FAQs

During a behaviour consultation, we take the time to fully understand your pet’s challenges. This involves discussing your pet’s history, observing their behaviour, and developing a tailored plan to address any concerns. The goal is to provide insight into what may be driving the behaviour and create a step-by-step plan to bring positive change.

Yes, medication can be part of the treatment plan if necessary. It’s not always required, but in some cases, medication can help reduce anxiety or other underlying issues, making behaviour modification more effective. We’ll discuss whether medication is appropriate for your pet and ensure it’s used safely and responsibly.

A Zoom consultation costs $220 and lasts between one and a half to two hours. If you’re within my home visit area, the travel charge will vary depending on the travel time. Please contact us to get an accurate estimate for your specific location.

Yes, we help with cases that deal with managing and treating aggression. Every case is different, so we approach it with a thorough assessment to understand what’s triggering the behaviour and how to safely modify it. Safety is always our top priority, and we’ll guide you through managing these situations.

Yes, we offer both! While behaviour consultations focus on addressing emotional or psychological issues, we also provide training to reinforce positive behaviour and skills. Both services often work hand-in-hand to achieve the best results.

Yes, we offer both in-person and virtual consultations. Virtual consultations are ideal if you’re outside our service area or prefer the convenience of remote assistance. In-person consultations are available for more complex cases or when a hands-on approach is needed.

Do I need a referral from my regular vet to book an appointment with you?

No, you don’t need a referral. However, if your pet has any existing medical issues or if we need to discuss medication, we may collaborate with your vet to ensure the best care for your pet.

If you’re unsure whether your pet’s behaviour has a medical cause, we recommend visiting your vet first to rule out any health conditions. Sometimes, behaviour changes can be linked to pain or illness. Once medical causes are ruled out, we can work on addressing the behavioural aspects.

We use scientifically-backed, positive reinforcement techniques to encourage desired behaviours and reduce problem ones. Our methods focus on understanding the root cause of the behaviour and addressing it in a way that is gentle and effective for your pet.

The number of sessions varies depending on the complexity of the issue and your pet’s progress. Some problems can be improved in just a few sessions, while more complex behaviours may require ongoing support. We’ll create a plan and timeline based on your pet’s specific needs.
